In September’s Insider we look for innovation in the Midlands economy. The good news is that there’s plenty of it; the bad news is that a lot of the bodies set up to support it are being wound down or downsized. Our cover feature ‘Bright Sparks’ demonstrates the breadth of entrepreneurial talent in our patch and highlights the results of their ‘eureka moments’. Elsewhere, our profile is of bmibaby boss Julian Carr and our economic forum looks at the issues faced by businesses in Nottinghamshire. Our Dealmakers Awards preview will hopefully whet your appetite for the big night and we explain why trade buyers are getting the choicest morsels on the deals front.
The theme of this month’s issue is innovation. Lufthansa’s takeover of BMI ended a long drawn-out spectacle, but how does it affect bmibaby? Sam Metcalf asked its new managing director.
