Businesses make easy targets for criminals. A large amount of IT equipment, regular and predictable opening hours, and often lax security procedures make a tempting target for organised criminal gangs.
Even opportunistic criminals, who might not burgle a family home, see businesses as a 'victimless crime'. Of course business owners know that the loss of equipment, damage, loss of earnings and disruption caused by theft can have a very damaging impact.
It is therefore imperative a company has adequate security procedures in place to protect itself against theft to its property and employees.
Insurance has a vital role to play, but the rise in premiums often associated with falling victim to crime make prevention better than the cure.
