Solaglas hopes to shine in construction

Solaglas Installation has revealed plans to develop partnerships with major players in the construction industry. The company has relocated to a 60,000 sq ft headquarters in Rotherham and director Ian Davy told Insider the business is now more closely aligned with its €40bn-turnover French-headquartered parent Saint Gobain.

Turbo fizzes after £200,000 angel investment
Turbo Drinks Company, which has operations in Leeds and Cumbria, has secured £200,000 backing from three groups of angel investors as it looks to market its premium strength shandy. The Turbo Original drink has reportedly received the backing of celebrities, including N-Dubz band members, actor Danny Dyer and X-Factor winner Matt Cardle.

David Wood Baking has acquired its third bakery with backing from Yorkshire Bank and is now aiming to achieve turnover of £30m after two years in business.

Little Eden bought for £700,000
Little Eden Country Park in Bridlington has been acquired by Lincolnshire holiday and residential park owner Lifestyle Living Group. The site was bought for £700,000.

Pub rescued after Winterhill deal
The Blacksmith Arms in North Yorkshire has been rescued in a deal between Punch Taverns and interim pub management company Winterhill Leisure.

DLA advises on £291m steel deal
The Sheffield office of law firm DLA Piper has advised Tata Steel on the £291m sale of Corus Teesside Cast Products site in Redcar. The sale to SSI, Thailand's largest steel maker, secures more than 700 jobs.

Straight hunting for more businesses
Leeds-based recycling business Straight is on the lookout for further acquisitions after posting a 8.3 per cent revenue boost to £30.66m for the year ended 31 December 2010. Pre-tax profit was down to £1.47m from £1.56m. Straight recently bought and integrated the UK business of Helesi, Dyro Holdings and Tapmagic.
