Leeds City Region can be trailblazer - Lumby
Gary Lumby, the president of the Leeds Chamber of Commerce, has told Insider he hopes the Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnership can act as a trailblazer for other LEPs in the UK. Speaking ahead of the chamber's annual dinner this evening, Lumby said it was up to LEPs to innovate and present the government with proposals for economic growth, despite some confusion within the business community about the model.

DLA Piper merger to create 'world's biggest law firm'
DLA Piper, which has offices in Leeds and Sheffield, is to merge with an Australian law firm. The deal, set to complete in May, is expected to create the world's biggest law firm by number of lawyers and revenues.

Next agrees Doncaster warehouse deal
Next has agreed a lease for the 120,000 sq ft Aspect warehouse at West Moor Park in Doncaster in a deal brokered by CB Richard Ellis in Sheffield. The property is adjacent to Next's existing 700,000 sq ft warehouse on West Moor Park.

KCom trading "in line with expectations"
Hull-based telecommunications business KCom says it has clinched a series of contracts in the last quarter and trading was "in line with market expectations". It has won contracts to design and deliver a network for Staffordshire County Council and has been carrying out work for Virgin Atlantic, Sky Bet, Admiral Insurance and Volkswagen.
