Record start to 2011 for Croda
Croda International has reported record sales and profits in the first quarter of 2011. The Goole-based speciality chemicals manufacturer said group sales increased 13.2 per cent to £277.9m - compared to £245.5m in 2010. The record start follows Croda's best-ever results for a full-year in 2010 when the business broke through the £1bn turnover mark for the first time.

£505m credit boost for Hammerson
Hammerson, the developer behind Leeds' £600m Eastgate Quarters project, has secured a £505m five-year revolving credit facility, it said this morning. The business said it was increased from £400m following an over-subscription and will replace existing undrawn facilities of £670m due to expire by 2013.

Manor to reapply for RGF cash
Manor Property Group is to reapply for £3.3m of Regional Growth Fund cash after missing out in the first wave of bids. The business said the money would go towards a £15.5m project to develop a 140-bedroom hotel on a derelict site in Hull.

Crossroads adds to Nissan fleet
Crossroads Truck and Bus has added 17 service parts vans to its Nissan Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) fleet. The Birstall-based business said the investment added to its existing fleet of 60.

Quango closure could lead to vacuum
The closure of a quango set up seven years ago by Yorkshire Forward could hinder economic development across the North, an independent report has warned. Economic and social development consultancy SQW found that the demise of Northern Way could result in a "vacuum" being created that may adversely affect the development of high-speed rail in the region.

Syntopix hails acne product despite setback
Syntopix has hailed research supporting the effectiveness of its acne treatment despite a global consumer healthcare company opting not to commercialise the product. The Bradford-based pharmaceutical research and development company said it would now be able to market the product to a broader range of healthcare companies.

Q1 administrations dip in Yorkshire
There has been a drop in the number of administrations in Yorkshire and the Humber, according to figures from accountancy firm Baker Tilly. The number of administrations fell by 20 per cent in the first three months of 2011 when compared to the same quarter of 2010.

Board moves at Viridas
Board changes have been announced at Viridas this morning. The Leeds-based green fuel business said Nicholas Lee has been appointed as a non-executive director of the company. Meanwhile, David Thompson, Keith Robinson and Jack Posner have all stepped down from the board of directors.

£8m contract win for Clugston
