Ellis hopes to increase exports after Brazil link-up
Malton-based Ellis Patents has secured its first contract to export its products to Brazil for use by the country’s part-nationally owned oil exploration company Petrobras. Ellis’ export sales manager Tony Conroy told Insider that the cable cleat manufacturer was looking to expand its export business, which already accounts for approximately 50 per cent of its turnover.

Marshalls in £20m credit deal
Huddersfield-based landscaping business Marshalls has signed up to a £20m revolving credit facility with HSBC. The four-year commitment comes as the business announced revenue was £169.8m for the half-year ended 30 June 2010 - an increase of £3.8m for the same time last year. Profit before tax was £7.5m - up from £4m last year.

Eyewear business goes into administration
Humberside Optical Services has been placed into administration. The Barton-on-Humber business had experienced difficult trading conditions over the past 18 months with falling order levels following reduced consumer spending in the eyewear sector, according to the administrator.

Bell Pottinger Insight expands into Yorkshire
Bell Pottinger Insight, the technology arm of Bell Pottinger Group, has expanded into Yorkshire after securing accounts with BusinessPointLive, ICS Networks and Mosaique. The business will operate from Ptarmigan Bell Pottinger’s office in Leeds.

FPB criticises parking levy
The Forum of Private Business has criticised a council plan to introduce a workplace parking levy (WPL) scheme, which will see businesses being taxed on parking provisions they provide for staff. The organisation said it was "deeply opposed" to the scheme and believed it would "provoke fury among business owners, who could be forced to pay tens of thousands of pounds each year".

Yorkshire hotels lead recovery
Sheffield hotels had the greatest rise in occupancy across the UK during the second quarter, with levels in York and Leeds also improving. That’s according to business consultancy Deloitte, which said hotel occupancy in the UK had grown for the second quarter in succession following two years of decline.

Crown Park sells up after an offer it couldn't refuse
Crown Park (Estates) has sold its 22-pitch Roecliffe park to a private investor in a deal worth more than £1.5m. Law firm Blacks Solicitors and chartered surveyor Humberts acted for Crown Park on the deal.

Meridian Metals relocates to Provincial Park
Meridian Metals has bought 14 Provincial Park Industrial Estate in north Sheffield from Mountcity Group in a deal secured by property consultancy DTZ. The steel stockholder has relocated from its current rented premises in Wakefield.

LPA Direct appointed to handle Profile Park
Ilkley-based Law of Property Act (LPA) receiver LPA Direct has been appointed to handle Profile Park, a 150,000 sq ft mixed-use commercial site in Lancashire. The receiver has been appointed to collect the rents at the property and improve performance of the asset.
