Hammerson moves forward on Yorkshire schemes
Developer Hammerson is to submit a new outline planning application for an improved scheme at the proposed £650m Eastgate Quarters shopping centre, it confirmed this morning. The property giant also gave an update on its plans for the Sevenstone project in Sheffield as it announced a return to profit for 2010. The developer posted a pre-tax profit of £620.3m for 2010 compared to a £453.1m loss in 2009.

Park Lane Foundation in Leeds has bought the business and assets of Golf Centre, trading as Leeds Golf Centre, following a company voluntary arrangement supervised by Begbies Traynor.

MBO at Mansfield Pollard
Mansfield Pollard, an engineering company specialising in ventilation, has been acquired in a management buyout by four of its directors. The multimillion-pound MBO of the 144-year-old Bradford business was backed by Yorkshire Bank.

HRVS bags its MAN with deal
Heage Road Vehicle Services has expanded into South Yorkshire with the acquisition of the MAN Truck repairs and servicing business carried out by MAN Truck & Bus UK in Sheffield. HRVS, which said it was eyeing further acquisitions in 2011, was advised by Fraser Brown Solicitors.

£2.5bn Business Growth Fund to open
A £2.5bn business support fund is to start investing in businesses with an annual turnover of between £10m and £100m from April, it has been revealed. The Business Growth Fund, backed by the UK's six biggest banks, will aim to help small service and manufacturing businesses in its first year.

Metallurgical and chemical processing business Linston has been acquired in a management buyout. The management team of Mark Edwards and Patrick Smout was advised by the corporate team at Sheffield law firm Taylor&Emmet.
