Yorkshire businesses honoured in Queen’s Awards
Eleven businesses in Yorkshire have today been named as winners of the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise 2011, one of the most prestigious corporate awards for British companies. The awards are made annually by the Queen and are given for the "highest levels of excellence" demonstrated in categories including international trade, innovation and sustainable development.

Persimmon agrees £300m debt deal
Persimmon has revealed details of a new £300m revolving credit facility. Royal Bank of Scotland, Lloyds Banking Group, Barclays Bank and HSBC are lead arrangers alongside Santander UK and Yorkshire Bank.

YBS merger terms agreed
Yorkshire Building Society has agreed terms for its proposed merger with Norwich & Peterborough Building Society (N&P). The merger will unite the UK's second and ninth largest societies creating an organisation with three million members and 224 branches. It is expected to complete on 1 November 2011.

Finance Yorkshire has said it is building closer links with intermediaries around the region to raise awareness of its £90m fund.

Silentnight looks for CVA as bank pulls facility
Bed manufacturer Silentnight has entered a formal Company Voluntary Arrangement after Yorkshire Bank withdrew facilities. The business, which has 250 staff at its Batley production site, is said to be trading well but has a large pension deficit.

Irwin Mitchell eyes external capital with restructure
Law firm Irwin Mitchell, which has offices in Leeds and Sheffield, is to restructure so it can seek external capital and accelerate its growth plans. The move to become an alternative business structure (ABS) is designed so the firm can take advantage of changes to the legal profession set to be introduced by the Legal Services Act.

'Uncertain' economy impacts Communisis
Communisis has said the "current uncertain economic environment" is impacting on its business. The Leeds-based marketing services provider said its management team's expectations for half-year group results remain unchanged, in an interim management statement covering its first quarter to 31 March 2011.

Tissue Regenix signs commercialisation deal
Regenerative medical device company Tissue Regenix has said it has entered into a commercialisation and IP agreement with the Pontifical Catholic University of Parana (PUCPR) and Cardioprotese. The partners are long-term clinical collaborators, both based in Brazil, and York-based Tissue Regenix said the deal would support its entry into the $1bn global tissue heart valve market.

Dam House put up for sale
Dam House, a restaurant and bar in Sheffield, has been brought to market by the Royal Bank of Scotland. Andrew Rodger and Roger Phillips, from GVA, have been appointed as Law of Property Act (LPA) Receivers by the bank.
