Yorkshire well-set for investment despite wider UK concerns
Yorkshire is well-placed to attract inward investment, according to CBI regional director Andrew Palmer. His comments follow a new CBI report that warned international investment in the UK is being threatened by regulations and planning constraints. Palmer's view was echoed by UKTI, the body with responsibility for international trade and investment in the UK. A UKTI spokesman told Insider: "Yorkshire and the Humber is a very attractive place for companies to invest. Last year the region attracted 147 new investment projects which created or generated nearly 6,000 jobs."

Projex merges with Keane Consult
A merger between Leeds-based Projex Building Solutions and Birmingham construction cost consultant Keane Consult is set to create new jobs and continue expansion across the country, Insider has been told. Glen Cooke, partner of the new business, said the opening of a new office in Henley-in-Arden was the beginning of a venture which could grow to "cover the UK" over the coming years.

Record year at JCT600
Yorkshire-based car retailer JCT600 has reported a 32 per cent rise in turnover to £615m during its record-breaking year to 31 December 2010. The business said profit before tax also increased to £12.3m.

Redhall Engineering Solutions, a subsidiary of Redhall Group, has agreed a £1.2m settlement with "former employees" on its contract with Vivergo Fuels Limited, it said today.

Dean Cutbill, the marketing director for Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks, is to leave the business this summer, stepping down from a role he has held since 2006.

Leeds-based e-business Science Warehouse has secured a three-year contract with the University of Sheffield. The business also supplies its e-procurement services to the universities of Leeds, York and Sheffield.

Brilliant moves to counter speculation
Leeds-based media agency Brilliant Media Group has said the reduction in its board size from 11 to two was to allow operational changes required by its recent refinancing. Brilliant, which made 12 redundancies last week after losing work from DFS and Asda, said all former directors continued to work within the business.
