WedgeWelly sales pour in after Dragons' Den
WedgeWelly has been swamped with orders since its appearance on Dragons’ Den this week. With celebrity fans like Dannii Minogue snapping up pairs of the company’s chic wellies and record sales before two major music festivals later this month, founder Sarah Longthorn told Insider that the future looks bright for the Hull-based company.

Cobbetts advises on City Trustees acquisition
The Leeds office of law firm Cobbetts has advised Mattioli Woods, the Midlands-based pension consultant, on its acqusition of City Pensions and City Trustees. The London-based businesses, which trade together as City Trustees, were purchased for £1.85m.

Orders up at The 600 Group
Heckmondwike-based engineering business The 600 Group says order intake for its first quarter increased by 31 per cent on the previous year. The company said its improved performance in the second half of the previous financial year had been sustained into its current financial year.

Proactis expects to post profit
Proactis Holdings, the transatlantic software company headquartered in Leeds, says it expects to report profits in line with market expectations for the year to 31 July 2010. The company paid a maiden dividend to shareholders earlier this year after an increase in operating profit for the six months to 31 January 2010.

Ward Hadaway branches out
Ward Hadaway, the Leeds and Newcastle-based law firm, has moved members of its creative industries team to Manchester. The firm has taken up space alongside the first 25 creative companies on site in one of the first completed phases of digital and creative hub The Sharp Project.

Mechan expects to double export turnover
Rail depot equipment company Mechan is on target to double its export turnover this year. The Sheffield-based manufacturer has taken orders worth in excess of £600,000 in the last month from France, Taiwan and New Zealand.

Harrogate-based exhibition and conference company Joe Manby has secured four new contracts. A delayed Holiday Inn Express Hotel development in Sheffield is underway with completion expected for summer 2011. Sheffield-based JF Finnegan will build the £10m project on Blonk Street.
