Yorkshire firms vie for QualitySolicitors link-up
QualitySolicitors has received hundreds of applications from Yorkshire law firms bidding to operate under the legal brand's banner. Chief executive Craig Holt told Insider the business aims to have a presence in every major UK town and city by October 2011, when the legal services market will be deregulated allowing organisations including banks and supermarkets to offer legal advice.

Law firms merge
Huddersfield-based Ramsdens Solicitors has merged with Dewsbury-based law firm Whitfield Hallam Goodall. Established in 1870, Ramsdens is a full practice firm employing 150 staff and 18 partners across eight offices throughout Kirklees and Calderdale, making them one of the largest firms in the area.

Reward Capital launches new fund
Reward Capital, a new multimillion-pound investment fund aimed at small and medium-sized businesses, has been launched in Leeds. The business, which is being led by Andrew Ward, a former regional director at Credit Agricole Commercial Finance and Tim Vaughan, managing director at Moorgarth Properties, will make investment amounts ranging from £50,000 up to £2m.

DBAM IP sold for £2.6m
The intellectual property of Wakefield-based DBAM Systems' EP range has been sold out of administration to US IT security business SonicWALL. Sheffield-based law firm Hlw advised on the £2.6m deal after it was instructed by administrators Andrew Wood and Chris White of the P&A Partnership.

Confidence up as Martek sails on
Escalating demand for its maritime monitoring technology has enabled Rotherham-based Martek Marine to post turnover of £3m for the six months to 30 September, a 16 per cent increase on its performance for the same period last year. The company, which has recruited 14 new members of staff this year, said it expects to report turnover of £6.5m by February 2011.

Well Met Conferencing has added the new Carnegie Pavilion, designed by Will Alsop of Alsop Architects, to its portfolio. The venue, at the iconic Headingley Stadium, offers a number of spaces for conferences and events for up to 150 with views across the pitch and the city of Leeds.

DS.Emotion wins QHotels work
Marketing agency DS.Emotion has secured a contract with Leeds-based QHotels to run a series of creative campaigns promoting the hotel chain’s business and leisure offer, which includes hospitality, conferences and weddings. DS.Emotion, which has offices in Leeds and London, will produce all creative literature and advertising for the collection of 21 unique hotels across the UK.

Property market cautious post election - Henry Boot
Henry Boot has told the Stock Exchange it has reduced its net debt by £12m since 30 June and trading in the period to 11 November has been in line with expectations. The Sheffield-based business described the property market as cautious since the election, adding that momentum had eased.

Synapse agrees Capitol deal
Synapse Learning has successfully let space at Capitol House on Russell Street in Leeds city centre. The deal was brokered by Jones Lang LaSalle, acting on behalf of Evans Property Group, and involves Synapse opening its first Yorkshire office in a 7,104 sq ft space on a five-year lease.
