O'Leary in Leeds Bradford Airport vow
Ryanair’s chief executive Michael O’Leary has vowed to fight Manchester Airport's dominance in the north and hailed Leeds Bradford Airport as a "beacon of light" in Yorkshire. In a colourful address before Leeds, York and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce members, the outspoken airline boss claimed the Yorkshire airport and Ryanair were working together against Manchester Airport to "kick the s**t out of them".

Trio of Yorkshire CCS projects bid for EU cash
Carbon capture storage (CCS) projects in Yorkshire have accounted for three of the 12 UK applications submitted by the government for funding from the European Union’s New Entrant Reserve scheme. The European Investment Bank (EIB) fund is worth between €4.5bn (£3.8bn) and €9bn (£7.6bn) to support CCS and renewable projects across the EU.

Spencers sells property management arm
Sheffield-based estate agency Spencers has disposed of its property management business to Countrywide. Spencers was advised on the sale by BHP Corporate Finance.

Skipton confirmed on EFG panel
Skipton Business Finance has said it will continue to provide the government-backed Enterprise Finance Guarantee Scheme loans throughout 2011. The lender, part of the Skipton Building Society Group, has been confirmed as an approved panel lender for 2011.

Santander secures £150m business fund
Santander has secured £150m in its third round of funding from the European Investment Bank (EIB). Santander said the money would be used to provide discounted loans to qualifying businesses.

The whole northern part of the country will benefit from the relocation of five major BBC departments to Salford Quays this year. That was the message from director of the BBC North project Peter Salmon, who highlighted the example of Yorkshire, and director-general Mark Thompson.

Northern Foods has made more changes to its board following its takeover by Boparan Holdings Acquisitions. Birmingham entrepreneur Ranjit Boparan was successful in a £342m bid for the Leeds-based business in March.
