Humber absence from LEP list disappoints chamber
Hull & Humber Chamber of Commerce has expressed disappointment at the region's lack of representation on a list of 22 bids reported to have been successful in their quests to become Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs). The government has distanced itself from the list, which emerged on a website and did not include any bids from the Humber.

Redhall explores options
Redhall, the Wakefield-headquartered engineering services company, looks set to bow out of the battle to take over Mount Engineering after it told the Stock Exchange it would not be increasing its offer for the York-based business. Redhall's offer of 70p per share, valuing Mount at £16.42m, was trumped by Cooper Controls intended £19.2m offer at 82p per share.

Vining appointed as chief exec at Shepherd
York-headquartered Shepherd Construction has appointed Richard Vining as its new chief executive. Vining, a former managing director of the Shepherd's south division, succeeds Allan McDougall as chief executive.

Retailer fined £12,000 after HSE prosecution
Huddersfield-based retailer Phoenox Textiles has been fined £12,000 after a fall caused an employee to sustain serious injuries. A Health and Safety Executive (HSE) investigation found Phoenox's employees had been working unsupervised with no training in dismantling a 30 ft-high shelving system safely.

Finance team expands at Walker Morris
Leeds-based law firm Walker Morris has expanded its finance group with the appointment of three solicitors to the team. The department now totals 24 solicitors and includes eight specialist partners.

Easyjet lands at LBIA after taking off from Doncaster
Easyjet has announced it is to start flying from Leeds Bradford International Airport, just weeks after it quit Yorkshire rival Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield. The low-fares airline will begin operating from the airport on 17 December, flying to Geneva five times a week during the ski season until 24 April.

SIV looks to build on its success
Sheffield International Venues (SIV) is looking ahead to a "superb" events programme for 2011 as it hopes to build on successes including being awarded Tourism Event of the Year at the White Rose Awards. Chief executive Steve Brailey told Insider that one highlight next year will be hosting the Lib Dem spring conference in Sheffield.

Evans Cycles, one of the UK's largest specialist cycle retailers, has signed a 15-year lease at No 3 The Bourse in Leeds. The 5,516 sq ft unit is the former site of Room restaurant in New Station Street.

Four new tenants at Sunny Bank Mills
Four new tenants have moved into Sunny Bank Mills in Farsley. The tenants - Powerhouse Digital Photography, Uncover The World, Yorkshire Physiotherapy Network and Richard Moran Photography - have taken a combined total of 11,000 sq ft of office space.
