We are global number one after strong year - Pace
Saltaire-based Pace has reported "strong revenue and earnings growth" to become the "global number one in digital set-top boxes" in its preliminary results for the year ended 31 December 2010. The developer of managed subscription TV and broadband services reported a 17.4 per cent rise in revenue to £1.33bn and a 1.7 per cent rise in pre-tax profit, before exceptional costs, to £71.1m. The results come off the back of Pace's takeover of three businesses during 2010.

Clegg unveils more RGF details
A second round of bids for the Regional Growth Fund will open on April 12 and successful bids from the first round will be "announced shortly", Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has announced. He also said that due to the number of "high quality bids" received, the funding allocated to the first round may increase.

The Leeds office of law firm Cobbetts has advised US battery business EnerSys on its acquisition of lithium-ion battery business ABSL Power Solutions from CIP Industries.

Optare wins £3.6m bus contract
Leeds-based bus manufacturer Optare has won a £3.6m contract to supply 20 buses to bus operator Rotala. The order includes 15 Versa Hybrid buses, acquired with a contribution of £1.7m from the government’s Green Bus Fund.

PwC recruits Hall to lead sustainability practice
Business consultancy PwC has appointed Rich Hall to lead the development of its sustainability and climate change practice across the North. Hall was formerly director of development at Co2Sense Yorkshire, Yorkshire Forward’s vehicle for sustainable strategy and delivery.

Syntopix expects "transformational" year
Bradford-based pharmaceutical research and development company Syntopix has said that 2011 could be a "transformational year", despite reporting an operating loss of £559,000 for the six months to 31 January 2011.

The Leeds office of private equity firm LDC has appointed Catherine Houghton as investment director. She joins a five-strong team in Leeds headed by John Swarbrick.

A team from law firm Nabarro, led by Sheffield-based partner Elizabeth Cooper, has been appointed as a national legal services provider to Sport England, the government agency responsible for investing in and developing community sport in England.

Morrison agrees ten-year lease at Great Eastern House
Morrison Facility Services, a division of building services provider Morrison, has agreed a ten-year lease with Deal Projects for 8,683 sq ft at Great Eastern House on the Junction 7 Business Park in Leeds. Property consultancy Edward Symmons represented the landlord on the deal.
