Minns dismisses pan-Humber LEP

Hull City Council leader Carl Minns has snubbed the proposal for a pan-Humber LEP, and told Insider "I fail to see the value". His comments come as businesses leaders edge closer to government approval for a pan-Humber LEP with Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce "urgently developing proposals" after landing the backing of government ministers.

WS Systems plans green centre at Magna
Rotherham-based solar power company WS Systems is in talks to create a renewable energy centre in South Yorkshire after it unveiled one of the UK’s biggest solar panel installations at Magna. The business is leading a £1m project at the South Yorkshire attraction and hopes it will be the catalyst to create a green education and training centre.

Wakefield-based specialist engineering support services business Redhall has said first-half contract wins worth in excess of £30m have increased the visibility of earnings for the second half of its financial year. In a trading update, the business added that it continues to pursue its case against Vivergo Fuels.

BCC defends £300,000 LEP network
The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) has spoken out in defence of its government-backed 'network' for local enterprise partnerships (LEPs). It comes amid criticism that the LEP system is becoming more centralised with some business groups missing out on having their say. But BCC's Adam Marshall told Insider the move was "not about traditional top-down relationships" and would listen to all businesses.
