Concorde ready to swoop for deals
Morley-based Concorde Excel Holdings is on the lookout for further acquisitions to add to its growing portfolio. That’s according to chief executive Colin Meakin who told Insider that his company is targeting the clients of his rivals in the IT support sector, including market leader the Phoenix IT Group.

Asda in talks with OFT about former Netto stores
Asda says it is in talks with the Office of Fair Trading to find out if it must dispose of any of the Netto stores it acquired in May for £778m. The supermarket said the numbers of stores it would have to sell will be a matter for the OFT, but no conclusions had yet been reached.

TWL’s online gaming brand is open for business
Doncaster-based The Weather Lottery (TWL) has reported its online gaming brand FCBetz.com is operational ahead of the new Championship football season. TWL recently entered partnership agreements with football clubs including Coventry City, Derby County, Sheffield Wednesday and Leicester City.

Sales up at Bettys
Bettys & Taylors has reported increased revenue of £88.7m for the year to 31 October 2009 - up 15 per cent on the previous year. Despite the increased revenue, pre-tax profit at the tea and coffee manufacturer was slightly down at £7.7m.

Kraft's profits soar following Cadbury takeover
Kraft, the American food giant which bought Cadbury in January, has seen profits soar by 13 per cent this year. Kraft, which has an operation in Sheffield, announced a net profit of £530m for the first quarter, up from £519m in the same period last year.

CEC appoints finance and investment director
Leeds-based investment company Clean Energy Capital (CEC) has appointed Peter Hindle-Marsh as its finance and investment director. Hindle-Marsh has been appointed to drive the business’ commercial strategy and raise investment capital for CEC’s portfolio of green projects.

The Crucible Theatre's £15.3m redevelopment has helped the Sheffield venue attract interest from the conference and events industry. That’s according to the chief executive of Sheffield Theatres who said bookings have been secured into 2011.

Confidence is returning, says GVA Grimley
Business confidence in Yorkshire is returning, according to the Leeds-based industrial agency team at GVA Grimley which reported a strong start to its financial year. After letting more than 2 million sq ft in the previous 12 months, the property consultancy has disposed of 350,000 sq ft of warehouse and factory space in the Yorkshire area since May.

Work starts at Shaw Lodge
St James Securities has started development at Shaw Lodge in Halifax. The 4,000 sq ft Grade II-listed building is being converted into office suites.
