Morrisons cautious despite royal wedding boost
The royal wedding and Easter helped Morrisons boost sales with a "record numbers of customers" shopping at its stores, it said today. But the Bradford-headquartered supermarket giant said it remains "cautious" in its outlook for the year ahead amid an "uncertain economic environment".

Phoenix drives Andrew Page with £40m investment
Phoenix Equity Partners has committed £40m to Yorkshire-based car parts distributor Andrew Page, according to John Rastrick, Insider’s Dealmaker of the Year. Rastrick said Andrew Page has added eight new depots since the £100m management buyout last year and is on course for an annual turnover of £125m.

Hatfield mine sold to Entero
Hatfield Colliery Ltd, a business formed after Powerfuel Mining Ltd went into administration last month, has been sold to Dutch-registered company Entero. Administrators were appointed to Powerfuel Mining Ltd, a subsidiary of Doncaster-based Powerfuel plc, on 15 April.

Park Rose Village has acquired Park Rose Leisure Park in Carnaby, Bridlington, in a deal backed by Santander. The buyer said it intends to add additional attractions to the park to appeal to more tourists.

Provident to create 250 jobs in Bradford
Provident Financial is to create 250 jobs at its Bradford headquarters to meet demand for its Vanquis Bank credit card subsidiary. The provider of home credit said it anticipated establishing a new call centre in the city with its "ready-made infrastructure and proximity to a deep labour pool".

Sheffield engineering business Firth Rixson has signed a long-term purchasing agreement with Honeywell Aerospace. Firth Rixson expects the deal to result in more than $300m (£181.4m) of forging sales.

Allam unveils £114m Hull City plans
Assem Allam, the owner of Hull City, has unveiled plans for a £114m sporting village with the KC Stadium at its heart. The entrepreneur, owner of generator manufacturer Allam Marine, said the development would create hundreds of jobs and bring “millions of pounds” into the city’s economy.

£5m Tyco plans submitted
Plans for a £5m development at the former Tyco Electronics Factory in Doncaster have been submitted by St Modwen. In partnership with Cooper Lighting, regeneration specialist St Modwen has lodged an application with Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council.

Abbeycrest strikes £406k termination deal
Abbeycrest has agreed a £406,000 deal to terminate the lease covering its former head office and car park. The agreement allows the Leeds-based jewellery designer and manufacturer to end the lease in September – ten years ahead of the original term.
