Forum to tackle boardroom imbalance
Yorkshire has been chosen as the venue for the Women’s Business Forum later this month, despite the region having one of the worst ratios of female board members in the UK. Heather Jackson, co-founder of the forum, told Insider she hoped the conference at Harewood House would draw attention to an issue she considers to be a national problem.

Screening businesses acquired by SkinCity
Genome Screening, a subsidiary of SkinCity, has acquired Leeds Ultrasound Screening Service (LUSS) and Genome, the companies which jointly run the Leeds Screening Centre. The acquisition forms part of SkinCity’s growth strategy to build a personal products lifestyle group.

RBS job cuts at Leeds, Harrogate and Bradford
Royal Bank of Scotland is to cut 3,500 jobs across the UK with 12 offices under threat of closure in England. They include its operations in Leeds and Harrogate, which are scheduled to shut or downsize next year. Further closures are expected in 2012, with Bradford among the offices earmarked.

Free-spending investor unlikely at Wednesday
Transfer fee expenditure for English football league clubs decreased by £50m in 2010, according to Grant Thornton’s "Football Transfer Tracker". That’s a sign of the times says Joe McLean, a partner at the accountancy firm’s Leeds office, who told Insider that clubs looking for investment were unlikely to attract free-spending new owners.

Late payment culture hits Yorkshire
Almost two-thirds of businesses in Yorkshire are not getting paid on time, with 5 per cent of companies not chasing debts because they are worried about losing business. The new research, commissioned by Positive Collections, also found 23 per cent of businesses more likely to accept excuses from late paying customers than before the recession hit.

P&A Group expands into Scotland
Yorkshire-based insolvency and debt collection business the P&A Group of Companies is opening its first office in Scotland and has appointed Derek Simpson to head up the Scottish operation. Simpson, who becomes a P&A partner, joins from Scottish chartered accountants French Duncan.

Centenary Pavilion prepares to open its doors
The new Centenary Pavilion at Elland Road, which will feature one of the largest dining facilities in Yorkshire, is on course to complete later this month. The 21,500 sq ft conference and exhibition centre will be able to cater for 1,600 delegates.

St Andrews Quay Retail Park sold for £81.9m
St Andrews Quay Retail Park in Hull has been sold by the Junction Fund for £81.9m to Threadneedle Strategic Property Fund. The Junction Fund is part-owned by Capital & Regional, the co-investing property asset manager.

Green light for revised £350m YES! plans
Oak Holdings has received the go-ahead for its revised "YES! Project" plans. Planning consent for the £350m development had been granted by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council in May and that decision has now been confirmed by the government office.

Council buys 96,000 sq ft space at Gateway Plaza
Barnsley Council has purchased 96,000 sq ft at Gateway Plaza, the development by Quest Property and Landmark Development Projects. The council joins Berneslai Homes, Premier Inn and the NHS as occupiers at the speculatively developed Barnsley scheme.
