Greencore refuses to bow out as Boparan gets closer
Irish food group Greencore said it was "still considering its options" this morning relating to the takeover battle for Leeds-based Northern Foods. It comes after chicken magnate Ranjit Boparan said he has received the support of more than 34 per cent of Northern shareholders for his offer for the company.

Dalesman business expands
Bradford food wholesaler Gordon Rhodes & Son has expanded with the installation of a £150,000 production line. The expansion is being supported by a funding package from NatWest bank and their asset finance arm, Lombard.

Top 30 in DWF's sights – Leaitherland
The managing partner of DWF, which has an office in Leeds, has told Insider the business is on track to become a top 30 law firm in the next 12 months. Andrew Leaitherland said DWF expects to hit revenues of £84m in the current financial year and to exceed £100m by April 2012.

CPP plays its cards right
Revenue at York-based CPP Group increased by 12 per cent to £325.8m during the year ended 31 December 2010 and the credit card protection company said there were "significant" opportunities for future growth.

Drax calls for more biomass support
Peter Emery, production director at Drax Power Station, has called on the government to provide greater incentives for biomass as a generator of renewable energy. He told Insider the current regulatory regime favoured wind and was "one-dimensional". The power station operator recently reported a surge in pre-tax profit to £255m for the year ended December 2010 as revenues hit £1.65bn.
