Profits shoot up at Persimmon
Housebuilder Persimmon has said maximising sales revenue and "firm" cost control were drivers behind its "excellent performance" for the year ended December 2010 when its underlying pre-tax profits rose by £88m to £95.5m. Revenue during the year increased by 10.5 per cent to £1.57bn and the York-headquartered business said it was well-placed for the upturn in the housing market "when it occurs".

Share placing for Findel
Findel has placed 5.8 million shares on the London Stock Exchange. The move could generate gross proceeds of £495,000 for the Ilkley-based home retail group, Findel said.

Profits boost for Provident
Bradford-based Provident Financial has posted a boost in pre-tax profit which rose to £142m in 2010 - 13 per cent up on 2009's £125.7m. The home credit provider also said customer numbers went up by 5.7 per cent to 2.41 million.
