Tribold sets up R&D centre in Cwmbran
Tribold, a software developer based in London, is to open a research and development centre in Cwmbran, South Wales. It plans to take on 45 development, engineering, professional and business support staff there.

Hawtin shares suspended ahead of EGM
Shares in Hawtin, the property group based near Newport, have been suspended at the company’s request after it was hit by a demand for £3m from Anglo Irish Bank over Cardiff’s Millennium Plaza.

Losses narrow at Pure Wafer
First-half pre-tax losses have narrowed from £3.1m ($5m) to £1.9m ($3m) at Pure Wafer, the computer chip recycler, which increased revenue from £7.4m ($11.8m) to £8.6m ($13.8m). The Swansea-based business which was posting its results for the six months to 31 December 2010, said the semiconductor market had now entered a period of growth.

Monitise checks in to Nantgarw
Monitise, a mobile money provider, has opened a research and development technology centre in Nantgarw, near Pontypridd. The move will create 40 jobs, according to Monitise, with the potential for more in the future.

New business district planned for Cardiff
A central business district is to be established in Cardiff city centre after the council confirmed funding of up to £160m for the area south of the Millennium Stadium.
