Wales lacks innovation and creativity, says "no" campaigner
People in Wales don’t have the abilities needed for full law-making powers, a business spokesman for the “no” campaign in the forthcoming referendum has said. Paul Matthews, who speaks for the True Wales group campaigning against full law-making powers, told Insider: “I am a Welsh person. We’re not the most innovative or creative, and very often those that are, move out of Wales.” But Roger Lewis, chairman of the campaign for a yes vote on 3 March, said giving the Assembly full law making powers would make it more business-like and responsive.

Microvisk raises £6m ahead of product launch
Microvisk Technologies, a medical device company based in Denbighshire, has raised £6m from investors including Finance Wales, Porton Capital, Oxford Technology Management, New Hill, Midven, and the Rainbow Seed Fund. The cash will help Microvisk run clinical trials, expand its research and manufacturing facilities in St Asaph and launch its blood clot test product.

Edwards buys Diamond coach firm
Diamond Holidays and Brian Isaac Coaches, the coach operators based in Swansea, have been bought out of administration by Pontypridd-based Edwards Coaches. Administrator PwC said the sale transfers the Diamond Holidays name, goodwill and future holiday bookings.

Wynnstay hails best ever results

Wrexham train operator to close
Wrexham & Shropshire, the company which runs trains from North East Wales to London, will run its last train tomorrow. The company, owned by Germany’s Deutsche Bahn, blamed tough economic conditions and said it had “no prospect of reaching profitability”.

GE Aviation is to take on 100 aircraft engineers at its air engine servicing plant at Nantgarw, near Caerphilly. The extra staff will deal with rising demand for servicing the GE90, the world’s most powerful commercial jet engine.

New Law brings in Fowler to aid growth
New Law, the Cardiff-based legal firm known for personal injury claims, has poached a high-flying dispute specialist as it aims for rapid growth in its business law team. Geraint Fowler, an associate in Morgan Cole’s dispute management team, will join New Law as a partner in February.
