Gillan presses Assembly Government to help companies
Cheryl Gillan, the UK government’s Welsh secretary, has urged the Welsh Assembly Government to use an extra £65m which it will receive over five years from yesterday’s Budget to support business. The Assembly Government’s finance minister Jane Hutt said she would study plans for enterprise zones outlined for England, but added: “The overall package is extremely limited given the challenges we face.” Most business groups in Wales welcomed George Osborne’s Budget, which cut fuel duty and corporation tax.
