Boomerang predicts good times despite S4C cuts
TV production company Boomerang Plus has said that its own diversification and new media rules would help counter the negative impact of S4C budget cuts. Boomerang chief executive Huw Eurig Davies made the prediction this morning as the Cardiff-based group unveiled an 84 per cent leap in revenue and 68 per cent rise in profits for the six months to November 2010.

Elinia moves in as Paramount returns to the black
Elinia, an internet services company, has agreed a 12,000 sq ft lease on Fairway House at St Mellons in Cardiff with developer Nigel Roberts. The deal came as Roberts’ company, Paramount Office Interiors, filed a return to profit in the nine months to September 2010.

St Modwen submits Llanwern homes plan
St Modwen, the regeneration property developer, has submitted plans for 311 homes and £5m of infrastructure for an access road at the former Llanwern steelworks site near Newport. The homes are part of a joint venture with house builder Persimmon at the site which will be known as Glan Llyn.

Rhyl cinema nets 3D investment
A redevelopment project at a Rhyl cinema will receive £1.17m from the Welsh Assembly Government. Improvements at the Apollo Cinema will include new seating and all 3D-enabled auditoriums as well as upgraded digital technology.

Abernedd power plant gets the nod
The UK government has given the go-ahead for power company Scottish and Southern Energy to build an 870-megawatt power station at the Baglan Bay Energy Park near Port Talbot.
