Freshwater plans to leave AIM
Freshwater UK, the public relations and marketing group, plans to leave the AIM stock market. The Cardiff company said this morning that its AIM listing was unlikely to help it grow through acquisitions. It said leaving the market would deliver immediate cost savings and give management time to grow the business organically.

Thrift show boosts Presentable's workload
Presentable, the TV production company based in Cardiff, has won a commission from Channel 4 to make a 20-part series, Make Do And Mend, in which experts provide advice on saving money. Presentable expects to make a company record number of networked shows this year.

Zeon sales and profits drop
Polymer development business Zeon Chemicals Europe has reported a 39 per cent drop in pre-tax profit to £1.2m for the year to 31 December 2009. The company based at Sully, south of Cardiff, said market conditions had seriously affected the volume of sales, particularly in the first half of 2009.

Jessica regeneration fund opens
The Welsh Assembly Government has opened its £55m repayable investment fund for bids to regenerate towns and cities. The Regeneration Investment Fund for Wales is backed by £25m from the European Union’s Jessica (Joint European Scheme for Sustainable Investment in City Areas) scheme.

Big rise in vacant industrial buildings
Wales has experienced the largest increase in available industrial floorspace of any part of the UK over the last six months, according to property consultancy King Sturge. Following an increase of 5.4 per cent in the period, there is currently 17.2 million sq ft of industrial space lying empty in Wales.

Pier group draws up £5.5m Colwyn Bay plan
Conwy County Borough Council has joined forces with the Pier Pressure Group and other bodies in an attempt to raise the funding required to renovate Colwyn Bay Pier. The work to rejuvenate the pier and pavilion building will cost an estimated £5.5m, according to engineer Posford Datrys.

Highcross buys Llandough estate
Highcross, the property fund management company, has bought Llandough Trading Estate, between Cardiff and Penarth, for £5m. The 16-acre Llandough estate includes 22 industrial or trade counter units. Highcross plans to improve the "overall presentation" of the estate and refurbish vacant units.

Work starts on Bodnant food centre
Construction is about to begin on a £6.4m food and drink promotion centre at Furnace Farm on the Bodnant Estate near Conwy in North Wales.
