Fiberweb branches out with Tubex purchase
Aberdare-based Tubex, the largest European specialist producer of tree shelters, has been acquired by non-woven fabrics group Fiberweb for £5.1m. Fiberweb, which also owns Terram of Pontypool, hopes to build a world leader in tree shelters.

Photronics wary after good start to 2011
Photronics (UK) has reported a good start to its 2011 financial year but is wary of potential knock-on effects from the Japanese earthquake and tsunami on the semiconductor industry. The Bridgend business posted turnover of £23.2m in the year to 31 October 2010 – up 9.4 per cent on its previous year.

Bluestone National Park Resort has completed an £8m development that has added 60 lodges to its holiday resort in Pembrokeshire, West Wales.

Pugh expects flat 2011
Difficulty predicting education sector budgets for the year ahead means Pugh Computers will be happy with a flat financial performance in 2011. That's according to managing director Jeffrey Pugh who told Insider the Aberystwyth company had outstripped expectations in 2010 with a 5 per cent increase in turnover to £13.5m.

Jones details cabinet roles
First minister Carwyn Jones has clarified the roles of some of his new Assembly Government ministers. Agriculture and tourism, which Jones described as “key business sectors”, will be handled in cabinet by Edwina Hart as minister for business, enterprise, technology and science.
