Machine wins funding for TV series but challenges ahead
TV company Machine Productions of Cardiff has won backing for a £1.5m children’s comedy series. Described as "Fawlty Towers for kids", Tati’s Hotel is a 26-part series in partnership with Screen Door of Canada, and will create about 100 jobs. But speaking to Insider, Machine’s co-founder Jane Dauncey said the prospect of funding changes and cuts mean the independent media community in Wales is holding its breath and ready for big challenges ahead.

Tower leader makes opencast bid

M&A to advise auditor general
M&A Solicitors has been appointed as the supplier of legal services in property and estates to the auditor general for Wales. The Cardiff-based commercial law firm will provide advice on areas including landlords and tenants, acquisitions and disposals and environment and construction.

Siphon Networks opens Cwmbran base
Siphon Networks, an internet telecoms specialist, has moved its headquarters to Technium Springboard in Cwmbran. The company has also set up what it describes as a centre of excellence there.

IPD reports full year of capital growth for UK property
The commercial property market has completed a full year of positive capital growth, according to research body IPD’s UK Monthly Index for July. The report says markets have risen by 15.4 per cent since August 2009. But in July, the market returned just 0.2 per cent capital growth - matching the figure which kick-started the recovery at the end of last summer.
