Havens Head Retail Park in Milford Haven has been acquired for £14.4m by Metric Property Investments from Land Securities. Metric said it will use its existing cash resources to finance the purchase.

Asalus secures £510,000 in funding round
Asalus Medical Instruments, a portfolio company of Cardiff-based university commercialisation business Fusion IP, has completed a £510,000 funding round that will enable it to further develop its first three products: Clearvision, Snugport and Surehold.

Williams Medical back in the black
Williams Medical Supplies, the Rhymney-based supplier of pharmaceuticals and medical products to the primary care sector, went back into profit in the year to 31 July, racking up a pre-tax surplus of £160,710, compared to a £99,315 loss the year before. Turnover rose to £62m from £53m in the previous year.

Avia secures hat-trick of wins
Avia, the developer of clinical decision software which runs Colwyn Bay-based Plain Healthcare, has secured three multi-year contract wins, worth an expected £640,000 over the period of the contracts.

Profit dips at Capper & Co
Capper & Co, the Pontyclun, South Wales operator of Spar convenience stores, has reported a drop in pre-tax profit for the year to 30 April. The business posted pre-tax profit of £2.1m, down from £3m in 2009, on a £289m turnover, up from £283m in the previous year.

ReAct training scheme tweaked
The Welsh Assembly Government has announced increased subsidies for employers taking part in its ReAct training programme. But, in a cost saving move, it has reduced its level of contribution toward training costs.

Councils and landlords split on rules
Welsh councils and landlords have clashed over whether the private rented housing sector needs more regulation. Giving evidence to the National Assembly’s communities and culture committee, the Welsh Local Government Association (WLGA) said tighter controls would have benefits. However, the National Landlords Association (NLA) told assembly members that regulation was not necessary, and that voluntary accreditation schemes could do more to raise standards.
