Councils select builders for £250m framework
Gwynedd, Powys and Ceredigion councils have selected six construction companies that will provide up to £250m worth of building work over three or four years. Bam, Carillion and Laing O’Rourke are understood to have won the biggest element of the framework, worth between £30m and £100m and working for all three councils. Other winners are understood to be Willmott Dixon, Kier and Vinci. The framework covers schools and other building projects.

Cwmbran hotel goes into administration
The business behind the Commodore Hotel in Cwmbran has gone into administration. Administrators from RSM Tenon Recovery were appointed to Llanyrafon Properties (Hotels) on 29 December 2010. RSM Tenon told Insider the hotel would remain in operation while a buyer was sought.

Moneysupermarket eyes £149m turnover
Moneysupermarket.com, the internet comparison site operator based in Flintshire, has told the Stock Exchange that trading in its fourth quarter has continued to be strong. The business said it expects full-year revenues to be in the region of £149m and adjusted earnings (EBITDA) to be at the upper end of market expectations at about £41m.

Pullman profits dip as customers' plans derailed
The change in government and the impact this had on its customers' overhaul plans resulted in a drop in revenue and pre-tax profit at Pullman Rail. The Cardiff-based rail stock maintenance engineer said its results for the year to 30 September 2010 had also been affected by difficult trading conditions in the second half of the year.

NetDev opens R&D centre in Cwmbran
NetDev, a voice software developer based in the South East of England, has opened its research and development centre in Cwmbran. The facility is intended to support NetDev’s continued growth as an applications provider to global network operators and communications service providers.

Trojan moves into Olympus
Trojan Electronics, a product repair company, has taken a lease on the 33,000 sq ft Olympus B building in Swansea Vale. The company plans to take on up to 60 staff at the site which was developed by the Welsh Industrial Partnership joint venture between Royal Bank of Scotland and the Welsh Assembly Government.

Penarth marina development approved
Swanbridge Developments has secured approval from the Vale of Glamorgan Council planning committee for the development of a café/bar/restaurant within the marina basin at Penarth. Swanbridge was represented by planning consultancy DPP.

Pontyclun delivers for dairy
Dhaliwal Dairies, a milk and bread supplier based near Birmingham, has bought industrial units K1–K3 at Coedcae Lane Industrial Estate in Pontyclun, South Wales.
