Legal & General buys £23.4m WISP blocks
Legal & General Property has bought two office blocks jointly developed by the Welsh Assembly Government for £23.4m. The offices in Newport and Swansea were built by the Welsh Investment Strategic Partnership (WISP) venture.

Bone tech firm raises £835,000
Orthos, a medical technology company in Cwmbran, has raised £835,000 from Finance Wales and others to help commercialise its synthetic bone substitute. The company, which was set up by Alan Rorke in 1998, recently moved to Wales from Bristol.

Wrexham in talks with supporters' trust
Wrexham FC has held talks with a supporters’ trust about a possible takeover, although a club spokesman told Insider that no deal had been struck. According to the Wrexham Supporters Trust (WST), the negotiations arose after it identified an entry within the accounts of the football club’s holding company Wrexham Village which it considered meant the club was up for sale.

Harris Pye looks west as profits grow 86 per cent
Harris Pye, the marine engineering group based in Barry, is eyeing growth in Swansea Docks after a sharp rise in profits and turnover. It made a pre-tax profit of £5.4m in 2009 - up 86 per cent from the year before.

Fraud falls in Wales
The value of serious fraud cases in Wales fell by 40 per cent to £1.8m in the first half of 2010, figures from KPMG show. But the firm warned that investors looking to beat low interest rates could be targeted by financial fraudsters.

Bridgend Retail Park sold for £18.85m
Bridgend Retail Park has been acquired from PRUPIM by the BA Pension Fund for £18.85m. The deal represents a net initial yield of 6.6 per cent.

Swansea station in line for upgrade
The contract for work on Swansea High Street station has been awarded to Yorkshire-based company Strategic Team Group. The project, which is part of the Welsh station improvement programme, is jointly led by the Welsh Assembly government, Arriva Trains Wales and Network Rail.
