Assembly Govt seeks to plug the £2m-£10m gap
The Welsh Assembly Government is looking at ways to stimulate more private sector investment in Welsh companies, particularly at the £2m to £10m investment level. The move, discussed by deputy first minister Ieuan Wyn Jones last night, follows last week’s emphatic referendum vote in favour of enhanced law-making powers for the National Assembly.

Harris Brothers Tyres in Swansea has been acquired by the Micheldever Group, which includes retailer Protyre.

Tyzack brings Ikaros to Wales
Serial entrepreneur Richard Tyzack has set up solar energy consultancy Ikaros Solar UK with an investment of £500,000 from Belgium-based distributor Ikaros Solar NV. The joint venture, which will be based at Technium Springboard in Cwmbran, has also been backed by the Welsh Assembly Government through a £500,000 grant from the Single Investment Fund over the next three years.

South Wales running out of top grade offices
Cardiff, Newport and Swansea do not have enough top quality office space, property consultancy King Sturge said this morning. Its South Wales Report found office take-up in Cardiff increased by 12 per cent to 426,000 sq ft last year, but take-up declined in Swansea and Newport which are more reliant on the public sector.

Asbri submits new Sebastopol plans
Asbri Planning has submitted a refreshed outline planning application for 1,200 units on behalf of the South Sebastopol Consortium for a site between Cwmbran and Pontypool in the Torfaen council area. The consortium includes the Welsh Assembly Government, Barratt Homes and Taylor Wimpey.
