Celtic Manor bookings boom ahead of Ryder Cup
With 57 days before the Ryder Cup, tourism is already booming at the Celtic Manor resort in Newport. The hotel's marketing director Gareth Rees Jones told Insider there has been a 45 per cent rise in bookings at the resort compared to last year.

Enfis secures Chinese NBA contract
Swansea-based Enfis Group has secured the contract to supply LED arrays and drivers for the NBA stadium under construction in Guangzhou, China, before this November's Asian games. Delivery of the arrays and drivers will be completed this month and revenue will be booked in the second half of Enfis' year ended 31 December 2010, according to a Stock Exchange statement.

Welsh dragon sculpture plans submitted
Planning consultant DPP has submitted plans for a 210 ft tower and sculpture of a Welsh dragon to be located on the outskirts of Wrexham. The plans also include a viewing platform, visitor and education centre, restaurant, cafe and bar.

Revenue boost at moneysupermarket.com
Moneysupermarket.com has reported revenue of £71.6m for the six months to 30 June 2010, up 4 per cent on the same period last year. The price comparison website said its profitability had improved throughout the first half of the year.

Amerisur outlook looks healthy
Cardiff-headquartered Amerisur Resources, the oil and gas explorer and developer, says its cash flow is healthy and increasing. The business, which focuses operations on South America, says it reached a monthly gross sales milestone of $1m in July with a cash balance of $25.4m at 31 July.

Cable and Gillan lined up for business week
Business secretary Vince Cable has been confirmed as a guest lecturer for the Chambers of Commerce Business Week 2010. Cable is to deliver the second "Callaghan Lecture" in Swansea on 23 September - two days after Welsh secretary of state Cheryl Gillan speaks in Cardiff.

Cardiff office take-up doubles
Take-up of office space in Cardiff more than doubled in the first half of this year compared to 2009, according to property specialist Savills. Its research shows 173,000 sq ft was taken up during the first half of the year with a total of 350,000 sq ft expected for the full year.

800 green homes to be created in Blaenau Gwent
Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council has signed a contract with a Leicester-based insulation specialist worth £3.3m to deliver nearly 800 energy efficient homes. The contract was awarded following the opening of the company’s new "Service Distribution Centre and Community Training Academy" near Abertillery in Wales.

£800k help for first-time buyers
A scheme designed to help Flintshire residents get on the property ladder has won £800,000 from the Welsh Assembly government. The Strategic Capital Investment Funding (SCIF) aims to promote "access to sustainable home ownership" via the Homebuy scheme.
