Jojo plans international expansion
Jojo Maman Bebe, the maternity and babywear retailer based in Newport, plans to expand overseas. Managing director Laura Tenison told Insider she would test export markets with an international website this year. The company will use online sales to identify the best places to set up shops.

Parsons buys Beasmart from administration
Beasmart Aluminium Tubes, a Bridgend company, has been acquired out of administration by engineering specialist John Parsons. Administrator BDO arranged the sale of the shower rail and vacuum clearner part maker to UK Aluminium Tubes, a company set up by Parsons.

Shredder buys rival
Shred-it, the confidential waste destruction company, has taken over Cardiff-based South Wales Shredding. The new acquisition, which operates from Taffs Well near Cardiff, brings the number of Shred-it locations in Wales to two.

Smart phones help IQE return to profit
IQE, the computer chip technology company, returned to profit in the first half of 2010 as demand for smart phones increased. The Cardiff company enjoyed a 54 per cent surge in revenue to £33m in the year to June with a pre-tax profit of £2.2m, compared to a £1.4m loss in the same period last year.

Insurer makes Swansea move
Thomas, Carroll Group, the insurance, health and safety consultancy, plans to set up a permanent presence at Tawe Business Village on Swansea's Enterprise Park. The move came as the Caerphilly company won a contract with Milford Haven Port Authority.

Wall Colmonoy profits up on lower turnover
Wall Colmonoy, the surface coating technology specialist, saw its turnover drop to £26.9m for the year to 31 December 2009, down from £35.6m in the previous year. But pre-tax profit at the Swansea business increased to £2.3m, up from £1.3m.

Society raises Cardigan car park fund
The Society to Sustain and Support the Rural Countryside has raised the funds to buy the Pwllhai site in Cardigan to build a car park. The group is understood to have agreed a deal to buy the land with contracts due to be exchanged next month.

Jones to direct BBC drama centre
BBC Wales has appointed Alun Jones as the new programme director for its proposed drama centre in Cardiff Bay. The centre will house the BBC dramas Doctor Who, The Sarah Jane Adventures, Casualty and Pobol y Cwm.
