Law firm Irwin Mitchell has acquired Madrid-based firm L&E Solucion Legal and Empresarial, one of the leading experts in Spain on data protection law. The deal adds to Yorkshire-founded Irwin Mitchell's existing operation in Spain and is part of the firm's international expansion strategy.

Incentivise AIM - Grant Thornton
AIM-listed companies contributed £21bn to UK GDP and supported 570,000 jobs in 2009, according to a Grant Thornton report commissioned by the London Stock Exchange. However, the report called for greater fiscal incentives and fewer restrictions to enhance the economic benefits delivered by the sector.

The number of companies using Business Link Yorkshire services is rising, according to the organisation. Its annual review showed an 11 per cent growth in usage to 119,133 for the financial year to March 2010.

Sheffield chosen to host exhibition
In a move welcomed by tourism chiefs, Sheffield will become the first city in the north of England to host the Natural History Museum's Wild Planet Exhibition. The exhibition, which will feature photography from the museum's Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, will take place at The Moor between 6 October and 27 March 2011.

Nabarro expands into Singapore
National law firm Nabarro is set to open an office in Singapore, its first presence in the Far East. The firm, which has an office in Sheffield, said the move will benefit many of its Yorkshire-based clients.

First phase of refurb completes at Ecclesfield 35
Phase I of the refurbishment programme at Ecclesfield 35 Industrial Estate in Sheffield has been completed. Developer Property Alliance Group, which purchased the estate in 2009, has completed a £1m facelift of the buildings.
