Clyde gets strength from emerging market
Clyde Process Solutions says its strategy in emerging markets will see it through the economic downturn. Chief executive Alex Stewart says the Doncaster company, which supplies materials handling systems to manufacturers, is still seeing demand in its European and US businesses. The strong dollar also added value to the US business. But Stewart said: “The business in North America has changed quite significantly and, as we’re already seeing, markets such as Brazil, Russia, India and China will grow.” The company's revenues rose from £26.1m to £36.2m and pre-tax profit was up from £387,000 to £2m in its half-year results to the end of August 2008.
