Henry Boot shines in 2010
Henry Boot is back in the black for the year to 31 December 2010, according to its preliminary results. The Sheffield construction and property company expects a pre-tax profit of £18.9m for 2010, against losses of £11.9m the previous year.

Endless completes Amco exit with £14m deal
The departing members of the Amalgamated Construction management team have acquired Endless’ stakes in Amco Drilling and Amco Developments, Insider can reveal. The deals, which value the two companies at a combined total of £14m, follow the sale of Amalgamated Construction to Renew Holdings in February for £19.8m initial consideration plus £6.2m deferred.

MBL plans to dispose of U-Explore stake
CD and DVD distributor MBL Group, which has started an “immediate downsizing” programme after losing two major contracts with Morrisons, has announced plans to dispose of its stake in Rotherham-based digital media company U-Explore.

Doncaster Council has sold the former Earth Centre site in Conisbrough to Kingswood, a provider of educational and adventure activity services.

Chesterfield industrial park put on market at £5m
Holmewood Industrial Park in Chesterfield has been put on the market with an asking price of £5m. The property, which comprises a two-level factory and office block, is described as one of the largest cold storage facilities in the country.

Warmsworth helps with Tower restoration
Stone produced by Warmsworth Stone, a family business based in South Yorkshire, has helped preserve part of the Tower of London. Hampole Fine Limestone extracted and cut by Warmsworth has been used during a four-year programme to conserve the Devereux Tower.

Government must nurture 'jewel in crown' - Scuoler
The government has been issued with a stern warning to provide fresh support for manufacturers by industry leaders speaking at an Insider breakfast debate in South Yorkshire. With the “Budget for growth” being announced today, delegates at the Question Time-style event claimed the coalition government’s honeymoon would be over if it failed to create a nurturing environment for an industry described as “the jewel in the economic crown”.
