Finance Yorkshire looks ahead to 2011 deals
Finance Yorkshire acting chief executive Alex McWhirter has told Insider the £90m fund has received considerable demand for its seedcorn, loan and equity-linked investments and expects some “big, chunky deals” to come through in 2011. McWhirter said he hoped Finance Yorkshire would increasingly become a key player for intermediaries as the fund builds on a promising start.

Balfour Beatty subsidiary Mansell, which has a regional base in Doncaster, has completed the acquisition of the affordable housing teams formerly operated by collapsed building services company Rok based in Rochdale, Birmingham and Exeter.

Tesco teams up with Litton for Hoyland site
Tesco has signed a partnership agreement with Litton Properties to develop proposals for a new superstore on derelict land in Hoyland — the former site of the Hoyland Market Street Primary School — approximately three miles south of Barnsley. The scheme, which is in excess of £10m, would incorporate a 20,000 sq ft store and employ up to 140 staff.
