Streets to enter South Yorkshire dealmaking market
Midlands-based accountancy firm Streets is aiming to shake up the Sheffield dealmaking market with the launch of a corporate finance boutique headed by Victoria Gribben, formerly of Strategic Corporate Finance, Insider can reveal.

£1.2m contract win for Clyde
Clyde Process Solutions (CPS) subsidiary CPS Asia has won a £1.2m contract with a large Chinese steel company. Doncaster-based CPS, which provides pneumatic conveying and air filtration solutions for process industries, told the Stock Exchange its subsidiary would supply a coal injection system to be included in the rebuild of one of the steel company's furnaces.

YF hopes reduced budget spared in CSR
Spending review cuts which are more stringent than expected would hurt business in Yorkshire, according to Simon Hill, executive director for business at Yorkshire Forward. Speaking to Insider, Hill added that there would be "unfinished business" left after the closure of the regional development agency which he hoped would be picked up by the region's successful local enterprise partnerships.

Digital Region wins Barnsley Council contract
Superfast broadband provider Digital Region has agreed a five-year contract worth more than £1m with Barnsley Council. The new networks will cover council buildings and Barnsley schools.

Yorkshire braced for public spending cuts
Chancellor George Osborne will today announce the full details of the eagerly-awaited spending review to provide details of how Whitehall departments will reduce their budgets over the next four years. Danny Alexander, the chief secretary to the Treasury, has already inadvertently revealed that 490,000 public sector jobs are to be lost by 2014-15 as the coalition government looks to cut spending by £83bn. Some business leaders in the Yorkshire have welcomed the proposed measures to tackle Britain's deficit, while others have warned the cuts could damage economic recovery.

Doncaster-based piemaker The Topping Pie Company has secured a listing with regional supermarket Booths. Topping's new Chilli Pork Pie will be stocked in all Booths stores.

South Yorkshire businesses to vie for awards
Three South Yorkshire businesses will compete for the title of Business of the Year at the Barnsley & Rotherham Business Awards on 22 October. Speciality Paperboard Containers, The Source Academy and Warwick Ward (Machinery) have been shortlisted for the award, one of ten set to be unveiled at a ceremony at Rotherham's Magna Centre.

RecyCoal selects Spinner Point for HQ
Regeneration business RecyCoal has taken 2,500 sq ft of office space at Spinner Point in Doncaster for its headquarters. The company, formed as part of a £14.5m management buyout of ATH Regeneration, will move into the premises developed by Leeds-based GMI Property on 1 November.
