ITM powers toward CE marking
Sheffield-based energy storage and clean fuel company ITM Power is looking ahead to 2011 when it secures CE marking for a range of electrolysers it has developed, ready to sell as early revenue generators. Chief executive Graham Cooley told Insider the business had £17m in the bank and was raising its profile by signing agreements with companies which will trial its hydrogen refuelling system next year.

SIG reports stabilising markets
SIG, the pan-European supplier of insulation and specialist construction products based in Sheffield, has told the Stock Exchange that its markets have continued to stabilise during the second half of the year. The company said it had achieved "modest" like for like sales growth in each of the four months from July to October.

Rotherham "most enterprising place in the UK"
Rotherham has been named the most enterprising place in the UK after winning this year’s 'Enterprising Britain' competition. Run by Enterprise UK on behalf of the Department for Business Innovation and Skills, the competition is a nationwide search for a location where enterprise creates jobs and transforms communities. The South Yorkshire town was represented by Rotherham Ready.

Newburgh invests in equipment after record month
Rotherham-based business Newburgh Engineering has invested in new equipment with the aim of enhancing its precision engineering services. The company said it planned to use the new machines to produce larger complex components for its customer base.

Holloway named as BMPCA chair
The British Manufacturing Plant Constructors Association has appointed Sheffield Forgemasters' Mick Holloway as chairman. Holloway is senior sales manager for the heavy castings section at Sheffield Forgemasters International and has more than 30 years' experience in the steel and engineering sectors.

Nabarro advises on £1bn scheme
The Sheffield office of law firm Nabarro has helped Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council with its £1bn-plus Building Schools for the Future programme. The investment will allow the third and final phase of Barnsley’s BSF scheme to complete with the aim of "transforming education in the borough".

Historic site redeveloped as offices
Carriage Court, one of the estate buildings built by the fifth and sixth Dukes of Portland around 1860 on the Welbeck Estate, has been redeveloped into office accommodation. The development is part of the Welbeck Estates Company's plans to redevelop the buildings on the estate.
