British Land reveals plans for Meadowhall office campus
British Land has launched Meadowhall Metropolitan, a new riverside office campus next to Sheffield’s Meadowhall shopping centre, which it owns half of. The company has outline consent for 1.25 million sq ft of offices and 1,300 homes on the 60-acre site, which sits within the River Don District masterplan. The plans also feature a new 4.6 acre riverside park and will be delivered carbon-neutral. British Land director Robert Samuel said: “Sheffield is a top three back office location but there are few sites that can accommodate large-scale requirements." Discussions have already started with potential occupiers and British Land said the project could generate more than £300m of private sector investment into Sheffield’s economy and a regional economic benefit of £180m per year. It is also expected to create about 5,000 jobs and 1,000 jobs during construction.
