D-Day for Sheffield Wednesday
Sheffield Wednesday faces the prospect of being wound up today in the High Court over an outstanding PAYE balance of £550,000. The club said last week it was in talks with HM Revenue and Customs but when contacted by Insider yesterday both parties said they were attending the hearing.

Symphony Holdings posts £1.1m loss
Symphony Holdings, the household furniture manufacturer, has reported a pre-tax loss of £1.15m for the year to 31 December 2009. That's down from the £1m profit it made in its previous financial year. A report reads that the South Yorkshire-based company incurred exceptional costs of £2.5m during 2009, which included £900,000 in relation to redundancy costs.

Four recruits at B&E

JF Finnegan secures £2m MTL contract
Sheffield-based JF Finnegan has been awarded a £2m contract to undertake refurbishing works at contract manufacturing business MTL Group’s new 300,000 sq ft site in Rotherham. JF Finnegan successfully tendered against other design and build contractors from the region.

Green light for 2,500 houses
Proposals to create the first of three new neighbourhoods in Gainsborough have been approved by West Lindsey District Council's planning committee. The plans, subject to approval from the secretary of state, would see an extension to the south of the town to support up to 2,500 new houses.
