Revenue and profit dip at Star owner
Johnston Press, which owns the Sheffield Star, Doncaster Free Press and Yorkshire Post, has posted a fall in revenue and profit for the year to 1 January 2011. Its chief executive John Fry also announced his plans to leave the business by March 2012. The company also said it had a "weaker start to 2011 than anticipated".

Topping out at Holiday Inn Express
The Holiday Inn Express Hotel in Sheffield has reached the topping out stage of development. Amber Hotels initially acquired the Blonk Street land three years ago, but work was delayed by two archaeological digs, the recession and the impending release from Intercontinental Hotels of the new generation Holiday Inn Express branded hotel.

Doncaster Racecourse has received a strong response to the free day of racing it is operating to coincide with the royal wedding. According to the leisure operator, the event has attracted interest from across the UK, with approximately 30 per cent of the crowd, already in excess of 20,000, travelling from outside the region in a boost to the business tourism sector.
