Crawshaw to beef up offering
Crawshaw is looking to extend its cooked product offer as part of ongoing expansion plans. That's according to its group finance director Lynda Sherratt who spoke to Insider after the butchers, headquartered in Doncaster, posted revenue for the six months to 31 July of £9.4m and said sales had improved "significantly" towards the end of the first-half.

Smaller deals picking up after “big ticket” catalyst - KPMG
Yorkshire has been leading the way in terms of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activity, despite an Experian report detailing a drop in activity during the third quarter of 2010. A dip was to be expected after the summer months according to KPMG corporate finance partner Christian Mayo, who told Insider his firm was noticing the return of smaller M&As after the flurry of “big ticket” deals earlier in the year.

Speirs installed as Master Cutler
Bill Speirs has been installed as Master Cutler, taking over from James Newman. Speirs’ installation will create an unbroken line of Masters since August 1624 when the Cutlers’ Company was formed to protect the city’s craftsmen and their craft.

Stagecoach expansion to create jobs
Stagecoach Yorkshire is set to launch a scheme which will lead to three new routes across Sheffield, including a second Supertram link service. The move, which the company said reflected its increasing success and commitment to Sheffield, will create 80 new jobs and involve a 30 per cent increase in operations.

New FD at Fusion IP
University intellectual property business Fusion IP has appointed Tony Gardiner as its new finance director. Sheffield-based Fusion has a portfolio of spin-out companies which it secures under long-term agreements with the University of Sheffield and Cardiff University.

Drop in corporate insolvencies - PwC
Corporate insolvencies in Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire fell in the third quarter of 2010 as the effect of the downturn showed signs of easing, according to analysis by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). A total of 406 companies became insolvent in the quarter, a 9 per cent drop compared with the previous quarter and a 25 per cent drop in comparison with the same period in 2009.

Powerstar to host energy saving seminar
Rotherham-based Powerstar is hosting a seminar intended to demonstrate how local authorities can use voltage optimisation to cut their energy costs and reduce their carbon footprints. The seminar will be held at The Source in Sheffield on 28 October.

Cyan House bought for £9.5m
Invista Real Estate has acquired the 67,000 sq ft Cyan House in Rotherham for £9.5m, in a deal brokered by the capital markets team at CB Richard Ellis (CBRE). Situated in the Dearne Valley, Cyan House is occupied by the Royal Bank of Scotland under a lease with approximately 11 years to run.

Paragon Point fully occupied
Recycling company WRL has agreed a five-year lease for the final 6,000 sq ft unit at Paragon Point in Rotherham. Acting on behalf of The Derbyshire Group, the industrial agency team at CB Richard Ellis secured the letting.
