Parties focus on business ahead of election
Business is at the forefront of the agenda for both the incumbent Liberal Democrats and Labour opposition ahead of the Sheffield City Council elections in May. Council leader Paul Scriven told Insider it would be “an absolute disaster” if the council failed to back business, while Labour leader Julie Dore highlighted apprenticeships as an important initiative if her party seizes power.

£750m raised by Yorkshire Building Society
Yorkshire Building Society has raised £750m by selling covered sterling bonds. Tanya Jackson, the society's corporate affairs manager, told Insider this morning that the bond issue was "so popular with investors it was oversubscribed" and the funds will help finance its activities in the mortgage market.

Rolls-Royce targets South Yorkshire
Manufacturing giant Rolls-Royce has launched a public consultation about basing two factories in South Yorkshire. The move would create hundreds of jobs. The decision to look at the Advanced Manufacturing Park on the Sheffield/Rotherham border has been made two years after the business announced plans to invest £300m in four factories in the UK.

DTZ hails record performance
