Billington sells Dosco for £1.8m
Billington Holdings, the structural steel and engineering business headquartered in Barnsley, has sold its engineering subsidiary Dosco to German company SMT Scharf in a deal worth £1.8m. The disposal of Dosco means the ongoing business of Billington Holdings includes Billington Structures, the structural steel contractor, and easi-edge, a producer of safety-related products. A spokesman for Billington Holdings told Insider: "Essentially Dosco was a non-core part of the business." Dosco designs and manufactures tunnelling equipment for the mining industry and comprises two Nottinghamshire-based businesses, Dosco Overseas Engineering and Hollybank Engineering. Target Benelux and Germany, companies told
Companies in Yorkshire and the Humber could benefit from targeting trade with Germany and Benelux countries, an expert has claimed. Ben de Smit, the economic and commercial counsellor at the Embassy of Belgium Flanders Investment & Trade, said short two-way shipping can be developed between the Humber and Belgium, with the latter also offering cheap serviced office space. Belgium is also “an entrepôt to a huge, very rich European market”, he said.
