Sheffield's oldest shop "strangled" by delayed scheme
Massively reduced footfall caused by the delayed Sevenstone regeneration project "strangled" Sheffield's oldest shop Pollards Tea & Coffee and led to the business' closure. That's according to owner Simon Bower, who told Insider compulsory purchase orders associated with the Hammerson-led development left Pollards in an area "where there are no other shops".

Indian acquisitions on the rise - Grant Thornton
There was a sharp increase in Indian takeovers in the UK last year, according to merger and acquisition statistics from accountancy firm Grant Thornton. Indian companies announced 24 deals targeting UK assets valued at £571m last year.

Sky unveils Sheffield plans
Sky is to base its Sheffield customer service centre at Ventana House - part of the Sheffield Digital Campus. The media organisation will occupy 23,577 sq ft at Ventana House and expects to create 500 jobs at the centre.

Doncaster hotel put on market
A 62-bedroom budget hotel in Doncaster has been placed on the market for sale. Restover Lodge is being marketed by Colliers International for £550,000 for the long leasehold interest.

Northern Hub is ‘top priority’ – Higgins
Network Rail’s newly appointed chief executive David Higgins has told the House of Commons' Transport Committee that the £530m Northern Hub proposals are the company’s “top priority”. Higgins, who took over at Network Rail last month, said the plans were “absolutely essential” to economic growth in the North of England.

Disappointment over gender ruling
Insurance industry leaders have reacted with disappointment to a European ruling meaning insurers cannot charge different premiums to customers based on their gender. The European Court of Justice's ruling, which requires unisex insurance premiums and benefits, will come into effect in December 2012.
