Cheltenham-based engineering company Spirax-Sarco has achieved record results for the first half of 2010, posting a 44 per cent rise in pre-tax profit. For the first half, Spirax Sarco posted an adjusted pre-tax profit of £54.9m compared with £38.2m a year ago.

Bristol tool hire firm sold for £43m
Bristol-based tool and equipment hire company Brandon Hire has been sold to private equity firm Rutland partners for £43m. Parent company Wolseley, which distributes heating and plumbing products, said it sold Brandon Hire because it no longer fits its strategic objectives.
