Sainsbury’s shrugs off Ashton Gate fears

Sainsbury’s has calmed fears that its planned superstore at Bristol City’s Ashton Gate site will not go ahead. Bruno Moore, regional town planning manager for Sainsbury’s, told Insider that a council-commissioned GVA planning report will not affect the company’s bid to get planning commission. It has been reported that the document claims the development will have an adverse impact on other businesses.

Bonus scheme launched to combat record low housebuilding

The government has unveiled details of its New Homes Bonus scheme to encourage communities to build more houses. The announcement came as it was revealed the number of new homes completed in England last year fell to its lowest level since 1923. Bristol entrepreneur in Twitter law plan

Bristol entrepreneur Nick Jervis has set up what is believed to be the UK’s first Twitter-based legal service. Nick Jervis, managing director of Bristol-based Loyalty Law, has joined forces with Silks Solicitors, AJR Solicitors and Quality Solicitors CMHT to offer free legal advice to businesses and individuals in 140 characters or fewer through the social media platform. The lawyers are part of the team behind @thelegaloracle, which founder Jervis told Insider could become a “commonplace” feature of UK law firms.
