Stadium plan in balance as Sainsbury’s waits on verdict
Supermarket chain Sainsbury’s has confirmed its submission of a new planning application for a relocated store at Ashton Gate stadium in Bristol. The project will go ahead if Bristol City Football Club’s plans to build a new 30,000-seater stadium at Ashton Vale are ultimately approved.

Taunton-headquartered accountancy firm Albert Goodman has acquired Weymouth-based chartered accountant Coyne Butterworth Hardwicke, which will now be known as Albert Goodman CBH.

Nighthawk Energy, the Bristol-registered oil exploration company, has raised net proceeds of £3.2m by drawing down on an equity financing facility with Darwin Strategic, which is part of the Evolution Group.

Glastonbury chief installs big solar plant
Glastonbury festival founder Michael Eavis has installed the UK's biggest private solar power plant at the festival site in Pilton, Somerset. More than 1,100 solar photovoltaic (PV) panels have been installed on the roof of the "Mootel" cow shed to generate enough power for 80 per cent of the farm's electricity demand and export excess to the grid.

South West Water set for data overhaul
South West Water is overhauling the management of its data, and has chosen a data-management platform from Informatica Data Quality to tackle the challenge. The company, which is owned by Pennon Group and supplies drinking and waste water services to Cornwall, Devon and parts of Dorset and Somerset, keeps huge amounts of data on its infrastructure assets and will use the technology to find and fix data quality problems across applications, such as its core asset management system and geospatial information application.

Bristol Batteries all charged up for new HQ
Battery supplier Bristol Batteries has moved to a new headquarters on Albert Road in Bristol from Newfoundland Road in the city centre. The new office and warehouse space is twice the size of the old site, allowing it to meet increased demand for its range of batteries for domestic and commercial use.

Exeter's chamber of commerce has confirmed Sara Bond, managing director of commercial radio brand Heart (Devon) and a chamber board director for the past year, as its new chair.

Cobham appoints Wareing as non-exec director
Dorset-based aerospace and defence group Cobham has appointed Michael Wareing as a non-executive director. Wareing will also become chairman of the Audit Committee when its current chairman, Peter Hooley, retires from Cobham's board of directors in May 2011 after nine years on the board.
