Job losses will 'hit us hard' - chamber boss
The closure of Robert Wiseman Dairies in Okehampton will have a “devastating effect on the area”, Insider has been told. Ian Bailey, chairman of Okehampton and District Chamber of Trade, said the job losses will have the equivalent effect on the town as a city the size of Plymouth losing 7,000 jobs.

Bristol Cars searches for new owner
Administrators are continuing their hunt for a buyer for luxury car manufacturer Bristol Cars, Insider has been told. Tom MacLennan and Trevor Binyon, directors at RSM Tenon Recovery, were appointed as joint administrators of the company last week.

Chancellor announces £50m funding package during Bristol visit
During a trip to Bristol, George Osborne announced that bidding for £50m of funding for a superfast broadband roll-out, is now open. Local authorities will be able to apply to Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK) for funding to improve broadband in their area.

A total of £775m is to be made available for research to help boost the NHS, the government has announced today (7 March 2011). The funding, to be made available over five years, aims to "secure the UK as a world leader in life sciences".
